Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has made notable changes to the education system in Kwara State, according to the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olalekan Olohungbebe.

Before 2019, the sector struggled with major funding gaps, especially in accessing grants from the Universal Basic Education Commission due to unpaid counterpart funds. The current administration addressed this by settling outstanding debts and maintaining consistent payments, which reopened access to crucial funding for basic education.

A key part of the reform agenda is the introduction of the KwaraLEARN initiative. This digital program has improved teaching consistency by providing teachers with tablets loaded with structured lesson plans. As a result, pupils across both urban and rural communities now receive more uniform instruction.

The reforms have also tackled disparities that once existed between city schools and those in remote areas. Previously, students in urban centers had better access to qualified teachers and resources, but the new system has helped create a more balanced learning environment across the state.

In addition, the government has invested in upgrading school infrastructure, including renovating and constructing classrooms. These improvements have created better learning conditions and supported overall academic performance.

Taken together, these efforts have strengthened funding access, improved teaching quality, modernized infrastructure, and reduced inequality within Kwara’s education system.
