Enugu Government Hails Senator Ngwu’s Scholarships, Pledges Support for Education

The Enugu State Government has praised Senator Osita Ngwu for his significant investment in education, describing his scholarship and bursary schemes as a major boost to youth development in the state. The commendation followed a ceremony where Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, awarded substantial financial support to deserving students.
During the event, which attracted students, government officials, and community leaders, more than ₦250 million in scholarships and bursaries were distributed to students ranging from secondary school to postgraduate levels. This programme, now in its second year, is part of the Enugu West Academy initiative, which offers academic mentoring, financial support, and educational guidance to young learners.
Government Applauds the Initiative
Special Guest of Honour Senator Godswill Akpabio lauded Ngwu’s efforts, emphasizing that investing in education is investing in the future. He further contributed ₦100 million to support the academy’s initiatives, highlighting the importance of public and private collaboration in youth empowerment.
Representing the Enugu State Government, Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai commended Ngwu for complementing the state’s educational programmes. He reiterated the government’s commitment to partnering with initiatives that enhance educational opportunities and human capital development.
Expanding Opportunities for Students
Senator Ngwu explained that the scholarship scheme aims to bridge educational gaps for talented students who lack resources and guidance. What started as informal teaching sessions has evolved into a structured academy with thousands of students enrolled across multiple centers and online platforms. The programme provides services like UTME preparation and registration support, benefiting students across all five local government areas of Enugu West.
Encouraging Broader Participation
Speakers at the event called on other Nigerians to invest in education and youth development, stressing that sustainable progress requires collaborative efforts. The ceremony highlighted not only the immediate impact of financial assistance but also the lasting value of empowering young people with skills, knowledge, and opportunities to shape a brighter future.
