Minister highlights gains recorded from education reforms

The Minister of Education has pointed to significant progress made through ongoing reforms in the sector, noting that initial results are beginning to reflect improvements in key areas of learning and administration.

He stated that the reform efforts are gradually enhancing access to education, improving school conditions, and modernising structures that support effective teaching and learning.

Expanded access and better facilities

The Minister explained that one of the clear outcomes of the reforms is improved access to education, especially at the basic and secondary levels. Upgrades to existing schools and the construction of new learning spaces are helping to ease overcrowding in several communities.

He also stressed that continued investment in infrastructure remains central to ensuring safer and more supportive environments for students.

Enhancing quality and updating curriculum

According to him, the reforms are also focused on raising the quality of education delivery. Curriculum changes are being introduced to ensure students gain knowledge that aligns with current technological and economic demands.

Greater attention is also being given to digital skills, practical learning, and employability to better prepare learners for the workforce.

Teacher training and system improvements

The Minister further noted progress in teacher development, with ongoing training programmes aimed at strengthening classroom performance and instructional quality.

He added that administrative reforms are improving coordination and efficiency within the education system.

While acknowledging that challenges still exist, the Minister maintained that the reforms are producing positive results. He expressed confidence that continued implementation will further improve the education sector in the years ahead.
