Federal Government Set to Roll Out Digital Education Data Platform

The Federal Government is set to introduce a digital education data platform on July 1 in a move aimed at modernising data management and strengthening planning across Nigeria’s education sector.
The new platform will serve as a central repository for education-related information, bringing together data on schools, students, teachers, and learning facilities nationwide. Officials say the initiative is intended to improve the accuracy of education statistics and support better policy formulation and implementation.
According to the Ministry of Education, the digital system will simplify data collection, enhance coordination among education agencies, and provide policymakers with reliable information for effective decision-making. The platform is also expected to address long-standing challenges associated with fragmented and outdated education records.
Experts in the sector have described the initiative as a positive development, stressing that access to dependable data is vital for tackling issues such as teacher distribution, school infrastructure, enrolment trends, and overall education quality.
Beyond improving record-keeping, the government believes the platform will promote greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the administration of education programmes. It also aligns with ongoing efforts to leverage technology in delivering better public services.
With the official launch scheduled for July 1, the digital education data platform is expected to play a key role in supporting future reforms and ensuring that education policies are guided by accurate, timely, and comprehensive information.
