Anambra’s Education Achievements Described as Revolutionary — Commissioner
The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma‑Udeh, has hailed the state’s progress in the education sector as revolutionary, highlighting the major reforms and investments that have transformed learning under Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
Speaking in Awka, the state capital, Prof. Chuma Udeh emphasised that the government has overhauled the education system, improving infrastructure, introducing innovative policies, and promoting technology driven learning to prepare students for the modern world.
Smart Schools and Educational Reforms
The commissioner pointed out that Anambra now has one of the lowest numbers of out-of-school children in Africa, a significant milestone in expanding access to education. A key initiative is the Smart Schools Project, which equips schools with modern classrooms, digital learning tools, and facilities to enhance both teaching and learning outcomes.
Free Education and Teacher Support
Prof. Chuma‑Udeh also praised the state’s free education policy, which ensures that all children can attend school without financial barriers. The government has recruited thousands of teachers to reduce shortages, renovated decaying school buildings, and improved teachers’ welfare through timely salaries and professional development programs.
Looking Forward
Looking ahead, the commissioner called for continued expansion of smart schools, further implementation of free education initiatives, and ongoing investment in school infrastructure to reach underserved communities. She reiterated the government’s commitment to providing children in Anambra with a quality, 21st-century education that equips them for future challenges.
