Education: Resource Centre for the Blind Urges Greater Support for Persons with Disabilities
The Director of the Resource Centre for the Blind, Mrs. Temitayo Ayinla, has called for increased support for persons living with disabilities, stressing that with the right backing, people with visual impairments can live purposeful and impactful lives.
Ayinla made this appeal during the centre’s graduation and awards dinner held at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos. She explained that the mission of the centre is “to restore hope and equip the blind, and not just to survive, but to thrive.”
She added:
“With the right support, everybody can thrive. Our graduates have turned limitations into strength, excellence, and purpose.”
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Babatunde Sefiu of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to inclusive policies. He stated:
“Lagos State is committed to policies of inclusion, ensuring equal access and opportunities for individuals with disability. We must continue to invest in accessible education, assistive technology, and an enabling environment.”
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, represented by the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Dr. Abdullahi Jebeh, urged Nigerians to extend support to those in need.
