Education is a fundamental human right and a key driver of economic growth and development. However, in Nigeria, the education sector faces numerous challenges, including inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and a shortage of qualified teachers.   NGOs have been providing critical support to primary and secondary education in Nigeria through various interventions. One of the key areas of focus for NGOs is improving access to education, particularly for disadvantaged groups such as girls, children with disabilities, and those from poor backgrounds. NGOs have been working to increase enrollment rates, reduce dropout rates, and improve retention rates in primary and secondary schools.   Another area of focus for NGOs is improving the quality of education. This includes providing training and capacity-building programs for teachers, improving school infrastructure, and providing educational materials and resources. NGOs have also been promoting innovative and child-centered teaching methods, such as interactive learning and technology-enhanced learning. NGOs have also been advocating for policy changes and reforms to improve the education sector in Nigeria. This includes advocating for increased funding for education, improving teacher training and development, and promoting community involvement in education.   Examples of NGOs making a positive impact in primary and secondary education in Nigeria include the Nigerian branch of the Global Partnership for Education, which has been working to improve access to quality education for disadvantaged groups. Another example is the Oando Foundation, which has been providing educational support to marginalized communities in Nigeria.   Despite the critical role that NGOs play in supporting primary and secondary education in Nigeria, there are still challenges that need to be addressed. One of the key challenges is sustainability, as many NGOs rely on donor funding, which can be unpredictable and unreliable. Another challenge is coordination, as there are many NGOs working in the education sector, and there is a need for better coordination and collaboration to avoid duplication of efforts.   Ultimately, NGOs play a vital role in supporting primary and secondary education in Nigeria. Through their interventions, NGOs have been improving access to education, improving the quality of education, and advocating for policy changes and reforms. However, there are still challenges that need to be addressed, including sustainability and coordination.   Nevertheless, the contributions of NGOs to the education sector in Nigeria are undeniable, and their continued support is crucial to improving the education outcomes of Nigerian children.
