Sanwo‑Olu to Commission Africa’s Largest School Complex

Lagos State is set to make a landmark achievement in education with the upcoming inauguration of the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, described as the largest school community in Africa. Scheduled for commissioning during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Lagos, the complex is a flagship project of Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu’s administration.

Spread over 11.7 hectares, the Tolu Schools Complex houses 36 schools across primary, junior, and senior secondary levels. It is designed to accommodate more than 20,000 students, offering modern classrooms, sports facilities including football and basketball courts, and other state of the art learning amenities.

Governor Sanwo‑Olu emphasized that education is central to his administration’s vision for Lagos, stating that the complex ensures children have access to quality learning environments. The project is part of broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and support human capital development in the state.

Alongside the Tolu Schools Complex, President Tinubu is also expected to commission other major projects, including the Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, Maracana Stadium with 19 mini-football pitches, and the Lagos Food Logistics Hub in Abijo. These initiatives reflect Lagos State’s ongoing commitment to transformative infrastructure development and public service enhancement.

The commissioning of the Tolu Schools Complex marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s education sector, setting a new standard for large-scale educational facilities on the continent.
