MAAUN Universities Sign MoU with Seneca College to Boost Research and Innovation

The MAAUN Group of Universities has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Canada, establishing an international partnership focused on English language training, student exchange programmes, and collaborative academic initiatives.

The MAAUN Group, which comprises the Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja, Franco British International University in Kaduna, Maryam Abacha American University in Niger’s Maradi, and Maryam Abacha American University in Kano, is seeking to expand its global footprint through this collaboration.
The agreement was formalised on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, Founder and President of the MAAUN Group, signed on behalf of the four universities, while David Agnew represented Seneca College.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Gwarzo underscored the strategic importance of the MoU. “This partnership reflects our unwavering commitment to link our universities to leading institutions across the globe in order to promote innovation and research within the MAAUN Group,” he said.
He further expressed confidence in its long-term benefits. “We are committed to the full implementation of this agreement to foster research and innovation and to achieve the set objectives. This is a significant step toward strengthening academic excellence across our institutions,” Prof. Gwarzo added.
Under the terms of the MoU, both institutions will exchange expertise and resources while supporting each other in achieving shared goals. Key areas of collaboration include online English language training for MAAUN students, pathways for continued education at Seneca, and academic consultation services for MAAUN staff.
The partnership also provides for the development of joint academic programmes, with details such as credential type, programme length, and academic focus to be jointly defined. In addition, strategies will be implemented to promote study opportunities at Seneca to students within the MAAUN Group, alongside exploring other areas of mutual cooperation.
The agreement marks a deliberate effort by the MAAUN Group to strengthen its international presence, ensuring its students and staff benefit from global exposure, advanced training, and enhanced opportunities for research and innovation
