Education best tool to fight poverty says osun APC cheiftain.

Education has been described as the most effective and lasting solution to poverty by a leading figure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, who emphasized that investing in human capital is key to achieving economic growth and social progress.
Addressing stakeholders in Osogbo, the party chieftain observed that poverty remains a pressing issue in many communities, especially in rural areas. However, he stressed that access to quality education provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to overcome hardship and improve their living standards.
He explained that education goes beyond basic reading and writing skills, as it also nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. These attributes, he said, encourage entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency. “Educating a child empowers an entire family, and empowered families build stronger communities,” he stated.
The APC leader urged governments at all levels to prioritize policies that expand access to affordable and inclusive education, particularly for disadvantaged groups. He also called for greater investment in teacher development, improved infrastructure, modern learning facilities, and vocational training programs that reflect current job market needs.
While acknowledging the importance of social welfare initiatives in easing immediate economic pressures, he maintained that long-term poverty reduction depends on equipping citizens with practical and marketable skills.
He applauded ongoing efforts to strengthen the education sector in the state but encouraged collaboration among government agencies, private organizations, community leaders, and parents to further enhance learning opportunities for young people.
The chieftain also highlighted the value of technical and vocational education, noting that success is not limited to traditional academic pathways. Skills in agriculture, technology, crafts, and small businesses can foster entrepreneurship and generate employment.
He further stressed the importance of ensuring equal educational opportunities for girls, pointing out that educating women has far-reaching benefits for families and communities.
Concluding his remarks, he reiterated that building a knowledge-based society is essential for sustainable development. He called on policymakers to view education as a strategic investment rather than mere spending, expressing confidence that with the right commitment, poverty can be significantly reduced in Osun State and beyond.
