College Student Beats 15,000 Contestants to Win ₦10m in National IT Challenge in Lagos
A student of Platform College, Ipaja, Lagos, Abdulhameed Ibrahim, has emerged as the overall champion of the Digital For All Challenge, winning a ₦10 million prize. The national information technology competition was organized by Tech4DEV and sponsored by the United Kingdom government.
Ibrahim triumphed over more than 15,000 contestants from schools across Nigeria at the grand finale held in Abuja.
Reacting to the achievement, the proprietor of Platform Schools, Dr. Bola Obe, hailed the victory as “a resounding affirmation of the school’s commitment to raising globally competitive students.” He added, “This is not just a win for Abdulhameed but for the entire Platform Schools community. It shows that with the right guidance and resources, our students can excel anywhere in the world.”
Obe further explained the school’s focus on technology-driven education. “At Platform, we are deliberate about exposing our students to innovation and technology because the future belongs to problem-solvers. This victory underscores the strength of our ICT program and the dedication of our teachers,” he said.
He highlighted the school’s newly launched A-Level (pre-university) program and the Platform Information Technology Academy, both designed to equip students with skills for a tech-driven future. The proprietor also congratulated ICT teachers for their mentorship, parents for their support, and students for their encouragement. “Victory has a home, and that is Platform Schools,” he declared.
