AGILE Set to Execute 19 Projects to Boost Girls’ Education in Zamfara
The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has successfully delivered 19 projects to strengthen girls’ education in Zamfara State.
The AGILE State Coordinator, Sa’adatu AbduGusau, revealed this on Sunday in Gusau while presenting the project fact sheet covering August 2024 to July 2025.
“Although AGILE started operations late in Zamfara, we have recorded remarkable progress in enhancing learning quality and enrollment, especially among adolescent girls,” AbduGusau said.
The completed initiatives include the distribution of 340,642 learning materials, supply of 9,906 three-seater desks, construction of 115 boreholes, renovation of 590 classrooms, and building of 185 modern toilets across schools in the state.
In addition, 8,225 adolescent girls benefited from conditional cash transfers, while 180 staff members were trained on Gender-Based Violence (GBV). AGILE also renovated 38 women’s centers and equipped 20 centers with livelihood skills development facilities.
The program further reached 6,260 communities through sensitization campaigns and leadership engagement, conducted 32 media outreach programs, and generated over 1.4 million cumulative views on its online platforms.
Other notable achievements include procuring 100 safety kits, training 60 master trainers in life skills, supporting safe spaces, and mentoring 396 mothers across 150 schools
