Glo Foundation Launches N5m STEM Competition to Empower Nigerian Girls

As part of activities marking the International Day of the Girl Child, the Glo Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Globacom, has unveiled a N5 million initiative to encourage girls across Nigeria to embrace studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
To drive this vision, the foundation announced the launch of the “Glo Innov8” National STEM Competition for Girls in Senior Secondary Schools nationwide. The program, structured as a STEM-focused challenge, aims to inspire participants to “Compete, Innovate, and Win,” while boosting their confidence and expanding their knowledge in STEM fields.
Explaining the motive behind the initiative, the foundation said, “This is our modest way at Glo Foundation of celebrating and encouraging the girl child to focus more on the studies of STEM subjects and pursue careers in these areas in the future so as to become problem solvers for the country.”
According to the organizers, the school with the most outstanding project will receive a prize of N2 million. The two students representing the winning school will also be awarded laptops, while the teacher/mentor/STEM coordinator will get N200,000.
Schools placing second and third will equally be rewarded with consolation prizes. Entry submissions for the competition, which commenced on September 15, will close on October 5
