Speaking at a policy review session in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, said the government is committed to reforming the sector in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He noted that the focus is on reducing the number of out-of-school children, improving learning infrastructure, and ensuring equity across all levels of education.

“Education is the right of every Nigerian child, not a privilege. Our policies are designed to close the gaps that exist between the rich and poor, rural and urban, male and female, and even able and disabled learners,” Mamman stated.

He explained that ongoing interventions include strengthening basic education, enhancing teacher training, promoting digital literacy, and offering scholarships and grants to indigent students. The government, he added, is also working with states, development partners, and the private sector to ensure affordability and inclusivity remain at the core of reforms.

The minister emphasized that the ultimate goal is to create a system where every child can thrive regardless of background, thereby equipping the next generation with the skills and knowledge needed to drive Nigeria’s growth and global competitiveness.
