The National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) has concluded a two-week technical skills training program for 100 secondary school students from the Federal Capital Territory.
The initiative, which took place at the Industrial Training Fund facility in Abuja, offered hands-on training in Plaster of Paris design, tiling, plumbing, painting and decoration, solar panel installation, CCTV installation, catering, culinary arts, and robotics.
At the closing ceremony, NSSEC’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Tim Iyela, was represented by the Director of Teacher Development and Partnerships, Muhammed Salisu.
Iyela explained that the program was designed to give students entrepreneurial exposure at an early stage. “This program, which commenced on 25th August 2025, has brought together 100 senior secondary school students selected from across the schools within the Federal Capital Territory,” he said.
He added that the initiative aligns with national priorities. “This initiative is one of NSSEC’s contributions towards the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” Iyela stated.
Highlighting the long-term benefits, he stressed, “We believe that when students are equipped with entrepreneurial skills early in life, they are better positioned to innovate, compete, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
