NGO Trains 96 Out-of-School Girls in Tech Skills Across Osun State
A non-governmental organization, Value-Orientation for Community Enhancement (VOCE), has successfully trained 96 out-of-school girls in Osun State in application development and website design, alongside science education.
Disclosing this in a statement on Thursday, the Executive Director of VOCE, Ademola Adebisi, said the initiative was designed to equip young girls with 21st-century digital skills to prepare them for future careers in technology and innovation.
“Our girls are not just passing exams; they are rewriting their future. From struggling with basic literacy to excelling with multiple distinctions and now building apps and websites, this is the power of opportunity,” Adebisi said.
He revealed that the training program had already produced remarkable academic results among participants.
“Eighty-six out of 96 graduates earned a minimum of nine credits, including mathematics and English language. Eighty-nine graduates obtained at least six distinctions in their results. Beyond academics, they can now code, develop applications, and design websites, preparing them for careers in technology and innovation,” he added.
The initiative, according to him, reflects VOCE’s commitment to empowering girls through education, technology, and innovation, helping them transition from disadvantaged backgrounds into creators and problem-solvers in a digital world
